DESCRIPTION

GENRE : Open World - RPG

Gameplay and theme : Assassin's Creed Shadow

CONTEXT

Create an open world inspired by feudal Japan in collaboration with a second student, on a 2x2 km map.

SKETCH

TOP DOWN UNREAL

  • The sketch depicts a fictional Japan created from the map of present-day Japan. Its terrain has been reshaped to create a feudal Japan in civil war during the Nanboku-chō era (1336 to 1392).

  • The geography is designed to allow the player to quickly identify it. POI enhance navigation and allow the player to find their way around the map.

Merchant : gives quests for item retrieval.

Samouraï : trains and gives quests that help the character evolve.

In this city, all NPC are initially neutral; some become hostile when the player commits a crime. The player can experiment with the different movement mechanics without being overly penalized.

WATCHTOWERS - HOSTILE POI

  • Controlled by enemies, who monitor the city.

  • Some quests send the player to eliminate enemies in the area.

the player can kill with a bow, explode barrels or go melee

CAVE / MINE - NEUTRAL POI

  • Important sources of ore.

  • Some quests require the player to go there and harvest ore.

  • A puzzle allows you to collect loot at the top of a rock

The rock is destabilized, and it rolls and stops in front of the chest above. A path is created to reach it.

START OF GAMEPLAY - NEUTRAL POI

  • A small family farm where the player begins their adventure.

  • Quests will be provided for the first steps/tutorial.

TEMPLE - NEUTRAL POI

  • Neutral zone that belongs to no lord; fighting is prohibited.

  • Important quests are given there to help your character progress.

SMALL VILLAGE - NEUTRAL POI

  • Former residents of the town, who left to avoid the high tax.

  • Quests will be given to improve the living conditions of the residents.

FISHERMANS - NEUTRAL POI

  •    Supplies enemies with fish.

  •    Gives the player hunting quests to obtain other meat.

  •    Teaches the player how to fish better.
